Wellbriety Book Club<\/em><\/a><\/span><\/h2>\n

The Wellbriety Movement is launching a new expansion of the Wellbriety Store by introducing our Wellbriety Book of the Month Club. Our hope is to attract books written by people from our communities, or from people who work in our communities that have extensive knowledge about using the culture for our healing and to enhance the Wellbriety Movement.
\nEach month, we will select the Wellbriety Book of the Month and advertise it throughout our networks to encourage people to read it.\u00a0 All selected books are read and reviewed by us first.

  1. The book of the month of July is called \u201cThe Final Approach\u201d by Lyle Prouse.<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span>\"\"
    \nThis is the story of the first airline pilot ever arrested and sent to prison for flying under the influence. He was fired by his airline, stripped of his FAA licenses, tried, convicted, and sent to Federal prison. This was a first. It had never occurred before.
    \nLyle Prouse came from a WWII housing project in Kansas and an alcoholic family where both parents died as a result of alcoholism. He rose through the ranks of the United States Marine Corps from private to captain, from an infantryman to a fighter pilot. He made his way to the pinnacle of commercial aviation, airline captain…then lost it all.
    \nToday he is a recovering alcoholic with over 28 years of continuous sobriety. This story describes his rise from the ashes of complete destruction from which he was never to fly again. It is full of miracles that defy all manner of odds.
    \nIn a long and arduous journey, he eventually regained his FAA licenses. He never fought his termination; he considered it fair and appropriate. Miraculously, after nearly four years, the President\/CEO of his airline personally reinstated him to full flight despite the adverse publicity and embarrassment. In effect, the President\/CEO gambled his own career by taking such a risk on a convicted felon and publicly acknowledged alcoholic pilot. In another stunning event, the judge who tried, sentenced, and sent him to prison watched his journey and reappeared eight years after the trial. He became the driving force behind a Presidential pardon, although he’d never supported a petition for pardon in all his years on the bench. <\/span><\/span>Lyle retired honorably as a 747 captain for the airline he’d so horribly embarrassed and disgraced. He lives with his wife of nearly 56 years and has five grandchildren.
    \nHe continues to work with all the major airlines in their alcohol programs. He is also active in his Native American community, and he provides hope to those struggling with the disease of alcoholism, no matter who they are or where they are.Congratulations, Lyle Prouse!

  3. The book of the month of September is called\u00a0\u201cSlaying the Dragon: The History of Addiction Treatment and Recovery in America\u201d by William L. White.

  5. The Book of the month for November is called \u201cDrums Along the Fox\u201d by Rick Church.
    \n<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/span>\"\"Rick Church is an enrolled member of the Stockbridge-Munsee Mohican Nation. He is a Marine Combat veteran of Vietnam and a former state trooper. He was a Special Agent in undercover narcotics and dangerous drugs for the Department of Justice and an investigator for a C.I.A. Contractor. Rick is a graduate of the FBI Academy Quantico Command College and has a master’s degree in Forensic Psychology and has taught college-level Criminal Justice and Forensic Psychology course work to undergraduates and graduate students.
    \nArizona based Native American ex-cop and private investigator Noel Two Horses, agrees to accept a stolen vehicle public defender case at the urging of his partner Claire Blue Crow.
