Native American men are incarcerated at four times the rate of non-Native men and Native American women are incarcerated at six times the rate of non-Native women, according to a report by the Lakota People’s Law Project. White Bison already has several programs in place to support the ‘Wellbriety Movement for Prisons’, in the United States and Canada.
Our 2018 goal is to giveaway 100 Stories of Recovery Audio CD sets. This giveaway will end on December 31st, 2018. The audio CD’s of Native American Speakers that we will be distributing are:
- ‘AA 10 Stories of Recovery for Native Men’, which is intended for men’s prisons;
- ‘AA 10 Stories of Recovery for Native Women’, which is intended for women’s prisons; and,
- ‘Al-Anon 10 Stories of Recovery for Native Men & Women’, which is also intended for women’s prisons.
Each set includes 10 CD’s and each CD shares the inspirational recovery stories of Native Americans. We hope that this will inspire incarcerated Native Americans to begin their healing in prison so that when they return home to their families and children they will never have to return to prison again.
To request free audio CD’s of Native American speakers for a prison please fill out the WellbrietyforPrisons_CDProgram_OrderForm. Requests must come from a chaplain, program manager, counselor, or another individual working inside the prison.
